Question not, but live and labour

Till yon goal be won;

Helping every feeble neighbour,

Seeking help from none.

Life is mainly Froth and Bubble

Two things stand like stone-

Kindness in another's trouble.

Courage in your own.

This poem came to mind immediately when I was planning Vonnie's Farewell, because it reminded me so much of the kindness and courage that I saw in Her, especially in Her own adversity.   It isn't necessarily one of Her own favourites, but I included it here because of that association.

Adam Lindsay Gordon (1833 - 1870) was a great Australian Poet and Horseman, who was also sadly lost to the world at an early age, and the verses above are from the inscription on his gravestone in Brighton Cemetery, Melbourne.
